Food Tours

If you want to get a proper taste of Istrian cuisine, this is the experience for you. The peninsula’s unique history, split between Venetian Republic and Austrian empire, provided for its specific food. Whereas the coastal, Italian-influenced part’s forte was seafood, the cental, Austrian-influenced part was – and still is – meat-oriented. Uniting them is simplicity, tendency to show that less can be more. 

Our food tour lets you bite into that heritage, comprising a visit to three stops, either eateries or food producers – or a combination of those. Whether you’d like to try local produce at its source – charcuterie, cheese or world-renowned olive oil – or local dishes in taverns where locals go, we have something in store for you. The tours comprise: 

• pick up and drop off anywhere in Istria county – a member of EatIstria team shall be your driver, guide and lecturer
• a visit to three stops, either eateries or food producers, for a tasting of dishes/produce (options include seafood, meat-oriented taverns, olive oil producers, cheese producing farms, honey producers, charcuterie producers)
• Tasting fees (and drinks) covered in all the stops
